We all know Germany beat Argentina in the soccer World Cup Final, becoming the first European nation to win the contest anywhere in the Americas, however the mate also broke a Twitter record too.

Twitter fans whether joining in the #GER celebration or heartbreak for #ARG, football fans around the world shared their own reactions on Twitter,” the company’s Lewis Wiltshire wrote in a blog post.

“When the final whistle sounded and #GER claimed their 4th championship, we saw 618,725 tweets per minute (TPM) discussing the match – a Twitter record for an event.”
